It’s All in the Bag – I love the new travel handbag that my husband ordered for me to take on our European vacation. The numerous compartments help me organize my things and helps prevent it from becoming a ‘catch-all.’ This bag was designed to make theft difficult with safety locks and impenetrable fabric; so the strap and bottom can’t be cut during a ‘slash and run’! I just had to make sure that it wasn’t left somewhere. I’ve enjoyed the organization so much that I haven’t switched back to my regular bag yet. While in Europe, I loved shopping and seeing all the styles and fashion trends, even the handbags.
Handbags this year break away from the traditional shapes and silhouettes by offering a wide array of shapes, sizes, colors, materials, and textures. Proportion is the key, ranging from miniature shoulder purses to oversized backpacks which contrast with sophisticated fall clothing. Trendy yet functional geometric shapes are represented by circular clutches, square boxes, and pyramid purses. Gold rules with silver a close second. Gold and silver chain straps are the rage this season, as well as gold adornments from dainty and subtle to bold and assertive. Logomania is back! Labels have popular appeal and appear in many forms from barely noticeable to flashy! They are printed all over the anatomy of the fall 2018 bags; on the straps, in the corners, and front and center. The colors of the season are no longer restricted to just black and brown. Handbags are coming in burnt orange, forest green, sky blue, baby pink, tartan plaid and in many different materials and textures, too. Fur is not relegated to just coats; faux fur has gone wild and appears on bags. Actually, the sky’s the limit when it comes to handbags this season! There’s certainly one that will suit your professional image and complement your unique silhouette.
- The belt bag is a new take on the once popular fanny pack. This look dominates fall fashion with designers Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Givenchy, etc. jumping aboard.
- The top handle bag comes in structured shapes to refined buckets and offers a put together look.
- Miniature or necklace purses complement the hip layering look associated with fall and range from postage stamp tiny to oversized leather envelopes. Those worn around the neck can also be styled like a necklace to add dimension and depth to day and evening styles. The mini size looks particularly appealing when paired with strategically experimental proportions – think a baggy sweater or a blanket scarf. It’s a perfect size for keys and a phone.
- The oversized bag is a statement piece that can fit everything you need even your laptop making it perfect for life on the go!
