SPRING IS IN THE AIR IN ATLANTA! 10 Ways to Refresh Your Wardrobe

Most women realize that if you keep a style in your closet long enough it will become new again. This spring really exemplifies this! We’ll see retro looks from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s; there’s nothing brand new.  Even though styles are recycled I don’t recommend holding on to everything for 40 years! Just think how cluttered and chaotic your closet would be making getting ready for any occasion a nightmare! I recommend reviewing the Spring trends and considering choosing a few to keep your look current.

  1. Florals are taking a backseat to the retro prints from the 60’s and 70’s —bringing both major color and pattern to fashions. The ’60s, often referred to as the swinging decade, was all about having fun with fashion with flowing silhouettes and lively prints.
  2. The versatile vest or waistcoat adds another dimension to your look and can be worn for many different occasions. The dapper and streamlined ones are often worn a part of a 3-piece suit and present a polished business appearance. The fresh and funky versions are suitable for the weekends.
  3. Leather and suede are no longer relegated to winter. This spring 2020 you’ll see colorful jackets, skirts and pants. The great thing about leather and suede is their durability. If you are not ready for suede garments, add suede accessories: belts, jewelry, purses, and shoes. Suede and leather will come in a variety of colors: purple, forest green, pink, deep blue, and coral. You can’t beat leather and suede for their durability.
  4. The classic button-down shirt is taking on the look of the 70s disco with large, extremely pointed collars. These big collars, the bigger the better, are pulled out from beneath jackets for a stylish look.
  5. The official print of was leopard.  It’s making a roaring comeback and is viewed as a neutral that can be incorporated into any outfit and it transitions from day to night.
  6. The puffy sleeve dominated the fashion scene in the 90’s and continues into 2020. Whether accentuating the shoulders or extending down the arm the puff is here to stay for a while.
  7. Polka dots have been inching in and out of our wardrobes in recent years, but for spring 2020 it would seem they are most definitely the print to be in. The new dots are bigger and bolder than ever.
  8. Slim or skinny cut pants are being replaced with wide leg and flared pants. This look is more flattering on women whose hips are wider than their shoulders.
  9. Big bags shut down the tiny handbag trend in 2019. Oversized bags are taking over the scene! The woven bag in neutral or vibrant orange looks expensive.
  10. Orange is the key color trend for 2020. The citrus hue is a leading shade on in fashion right now. If orange isn’t flattering near your face, consider an adding an accessory in the hue.  Look for orange to shift toward burnt and terracotta in the fall.

What 2020 Spring trend appeals to you? Are you happy to hear tight pants will no longer be the fashion? Since 2020 borrowed from the 60s.70s,80s and 90s, which is your favorite decade and why? I’m delighted that fashion really change dramatically; this season will see reduced spending by me. I know my husband and bank account will be extra happy!
