This spring is filled with color and some styles are reminiscent of the past. I really enjoyed my trip to NYC at the end of January, where I had my first glimpse of spring fashions. Yes, it was still freezing cold but the store windows on 5th Ave. were sizzling with hot colors! Here is my fashion forecast to look for in the stores:
New Neon shades – Neon electrified the store windows on 5th Ave. The styles were bold, bright orange, hot magenta, and florescent green coming in both separates and dresses. This spring add some bright colors to liven up your look.
Tie Die– Tie die has made a huge come back and is no longer worn by just artists or aging hippies. Nor is tie die relegated to tee shirts alone. Designers have even incorporated this trend into formal wear and have layered it with prints. Include a piece of tie die to be hip this season!
Polka Dots– This once regarded as an old-fashioned spotty print has been given a makeover. A polka dot midi dress requires little-to-no styling. It has been a summer favorite because a polka dot midi dress requires little-to-no styling. However, there are many more adventurous ways you can incorporate the print into your wardrobe in 2019. This year, many designers are splicing two or more spotty prints together or are creating prints using more than one polka or combining them with other prints. Sprinkle some dots into your spring selections.
Bike Shorts and Bermudas- Bike shorts caused an up roar last summer, with some fashionistas and movie stars embracing the controversial trend. Some of our favorite designers have embraced this style; so they still remain on the scene. Let’s wear them right- select a pair with some length then team with an oversized blazer, a simple hoodie or a pretty white blouse. These are more appropriate for casual settings.
Bows and Ribbons- Bows and ribbons are the rage from head to toe, and are no longer just hair adornments. Oversized bows were one of the biggest trends that Hollywood definitely embraced on the Golden Globes and Oscars. Bows are not just for the fashion runways, they have made their way into street or everyday style especially on sleeves, necklines, shoes, and purses. It’s a feminine detail that is everywhere this spring!
Ruffles– Ruffles have made a huge comeback and are among the top 2019 fashion trends we’ll see everywhere. It started with flutter sleeves, graduated to peplums and now ruffles are out in full force. Ruffles decorate necklines, skirts, blouses, jackets and even dresses. If you’re used to a streamlined silhouette, take note: A well-placed ruffle can do the job of statement jewelry, a good handbag or major shoes. Whether opting for a bold ruffle-front dress, a frilled off-the-shoulder top, or a delicately layered feminine dress, there’s a ruffled look for everyone.
You probably already have some of these trends in your closet. Please share your favorite in the comments below and tell us how you wear it.
