As a photographic model in Manhattan in the late 1940’s my mother’s stunning presence turned heads when she entered a room. She instilled in me at an early age the importance of a polished personal presence to show that you valued yourself. That is why my mom was the major influencer in my life and styling career. Her four well-groomed and smartly dressed children were her pride and joy!
My wise mom knew the connection between looking and feeling good to move you forward in all aspects of your life. That’s why one of my mom’s greatest gifts to me was a make-over at Sak 5th Ave in Atlanta. I was so devastated about my impending divorce and becoming a single parent that she made a hair and make up appointment. I gave the stylist permission to cut my long hair that had the same through high school and college. It was a little scary, but I needed the change.
When I looked into the mirror, I couldn’t believe my reflection! The student look had been transformed to that of a young professional! For the first time in quite a while, I felt like a million dollars! The difference was so dramatic that my mom did a double take before she recognized me!
